SIMI VALLEY – The Simi Valley Street Fair, featuring over 250 booths with everything from arts and crafts to a bone-marrow drive, was held Saturday. The fair, sponsored by the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce, included an emergency response expo, home and garden booths, information on fitness and beauty, a bicycle rodeo and other activities for children. The drive by the National Marrow Donor program was part of a nationwide campaign, with the goal of registering 20,000 potential bone-marrow donors. Of special interest was the case of child actor Hailey Joy Kent, an 11-month-old girl from Simi Valley with acute lymphocytic leukemia who is scheduled to receive a blood-cell transplant at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles later this month. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
