FORT ST JOHN B.C. – The Siphon Creek fire has expanded over the weekend with more fire activity on the way.Erin Catherall with B.C. Wildfire Service says that the fire grew approximately 7,000 to 8,000 hectares over the weekend to 66,600 hectares. They are also currently re-mapping the fire to get a more accurate size and perimeter.The cause of the fire is still under investigation.- Advertisement -The 30 percent contained fire is expected to cause extreme fire activity today with strong winds between 30-60 km gusting coming to hit the area. Catherall said this will challenge fire fighting efforts today.“We are expecting extreme fire behaviour today. A advisory has been sent out with the cold front that’s anticipated”Catherall noted they currently have 169 firefighters, 11 helicopters and 13 heavy equipment machines fighting the blaze.Advertisement Catherall also says it is important for the public to know that there is no evacuation order at the current moment.
