The new Northport Bridge on Route 366 in Cumberland County is now open to all traffic. The new bridge, which cost $5,645,990, replaces a 50-year-old bridge that was limited to loads of 20,000 tonnes or less. The new bridge is able to carry all legal highway loads. “Completion of the new bridge has taken longer than expected and we appreciate the patience of area residents,” said Bill Estabrooks, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. The bridge was originally scheduled to open in January. Department officials will be meeting to determine the amount of damages that will be assessed against the contractor because of the delay.
